 Alternating 2 red & 2 green lights!!
Hi all.... Got a console that flashes quadrant 1 & 2 red then 3 & 4 green..then 1 & 2 green, then 3 & 4 red...then repeats. It cant bea cold solder joint issue as it will actually spin up a game but then stop in about 10sec. If I insert a controller it allocates to port. If I power on with ethernet cable inserted it starts red/green then goes to controller light on top left...but cannot get anything on screen. I have reflowed the GPU,CPU, RAM and Southbridge, performed Hybrid fix....no change. Also I checked the drive firmware and key all looks normal. Inspected the board..cant see anything different. Im stumped

Hi Can you get an error code. If you can, then it will most likely be 0303. This means you need to replace the RF board. However, dont go out buyin another one, if you can borrow one from someone else and check if the problem is fixed first. Regards

Replace the RF board. If you've already reflown the SB, then that should fix it.

this is a funny one. Are you sure its not a bad flash, why dont you try taking the DVD drive out and booting it unplugged and see if you get the same error.

I'd reflow the Southbridge again if you're certain there's no damaged components. As dotdot said, try it without the DVD. Just to be double sure, you could try another RF board.

Re: Alternating 2 red & 2 green lights!!
Quote: Are you sure its not a bad flash? Yes firmware is stock ms28 with legit looking key..owner confirmed never flashed. Quote: I'd reflow the Southbridge again Already did it once proper so I really think it will make no difference... update: I heard that people have reported this issue after sending consoles into microsoft, they refuse to fix under warranty as "it's been tampered with". They send it back to customer and these alternating flashing lights are evident upon return. Microsoft may be doing something to these consoles to take em out if you will. I got an email from the owner as follows Quote: I originally sent you my 360 back in March (I think it was) for the e74 error because at the time when I rang MS they said the problem wasn't covered under their warranty..... So yeah, 7 months later and now my xbox started displaying strange colours on the screen which ultimately led to no video output at all. I did a little research on the internet and found that some people had success sending their modded 360s into to MS and still getting free repairs so I thought it was worth a shot. I called MS and told them the problem, which apparently was now covered under their warranty... I sent it in, got it back 2 weeks later with a letter on top saying that it wasn't repaired because it was tampered with. When I got it back I didn't even bother turning it on.... I just took the letter out, resealed the posting box up again and sent it into you. Would have never imagined that those bastards at microsoft would deliberately punish one of their customers by permanently breaking a console. Oh well I guess its time for him to get a new console....

I don't think they can technically "break" someones xbox that they bought. It certainly doesn't sound legal anyway.
